Throwback Thursday #2

Posted: November 16, 2012 in Throwback Thursday

This week I’ll be profiling another classic game, this time possibly the greatest game ever made: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This 4th edition of the Zelda series, released in 1998, took Link on a journey never to be forgotten. The Nintendo 64 took the series to a level of superiorness that will never be overtaken. The Z-Target element was implicated giving the game an easy, yet challenging task on killing enemies. The weapons, including the classic Bow n’ Arrow and Master Sword, were all perfectly designed to progress the adventure. The game makes you become one with the character of Link; it puts you in the adventure. This game is my all time favorite game and if you have not played it, stop what you’re doing and get it now. You can play it on the original Nintendo 64, Gamecube (Master’s Quest Edition), Nintendo Wii Virtual Console, and the 3DS. There is no excuse to not play this game, whether you’re a gamer or not.

How is everyone liking Black Ops 2? From the footage I have seen, it looks better than Black Ops, as it looks for detailed and refined.

New Super Mario Bros. U…Eh

Posted: November 4, 2012 in Discussions

With the upcoming release of Nintendo’s new system the Wii U looming, the launch titles have been released. Many solid choices by Nintendo that can all utilize the new specs of the system. However, every time Nintendo releases a new system, a brand new Mario title is unleashed. Whether it was Super Mario World in 1991 for the SNES or the ground breaking 3D Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 in 1996, Nintendo has always gave their fans a Mario game that is better than the previous. Many times, these Mario launch games are some of the system’s best. But this time, I don’t think that will happen. Nintendo is delivering a 3rd edition of the New Super Mario Bros. series titled New Super Mario Bros. U.  These games are excellently made, great for multiplayer, and provide hours of entertainment, but it’s something we’ve seen before. It is introducing barely anything new to the series, besides new power ups. By the preview, it looks basically like the same game as the previous 2. I’m a little disappointed, as the launch titles are always my favorites. Super Mario Galaxy was such a well crafted and unique game. Overall Nintendo I hate to say this, but let’s say I and many gamers give you a F on this decision.
